Tanuki are an animal indiginous to Japan and Korea (and maybe China?) the English name given to them is raccoon-dog but they are not related to raccoons at all. In Japan they have gained mythical status as a trickster and party animal with magical powers. They are often featured in porcellin outside bars holding a sake jar. The owner of this house has added a modern touch in the form of sunglasses.
